Can a person "inherit" eternal life?

A certain scholar asked the Lord that monumental question in (Luke 10:25-37) - "What can I DO to inherit eternal life?"

Consider the Lord's answer to this important question as we study the section known to most as The Parable of the Good Samaritian. It is only because people have made more about the illustration Jesus used to answer the lawyers question than they have of the question asked and the Lord's answer that scholars have so considered the passage.
